Cannabidiol (CBD) is an ingredient of cannabis that benefits health in many ways but, unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), doesn’t get you stoned. It’s legal in the United Kingdom and United States.
The endocannabinoid system, discovered in the early 1990s, governs many bodily processes, including appetite, memory, mood and sleep. It is comprised of endocannabinoids – cannabinoids made by the body – CB1 and CB2 receptors and enzymes that break down cannabinoids after they’ve served their purpose. CBD influences CB1 and CB2 receptors.
