The legalisation of marijuana throughout the United States has effected many parts of the country and it has recently been making even more of a statement in the world of education.
The media has began to focus quite a lot of its attention and resources reporting the ongoing story of marijuana legalisation over the U.S. This is something that the University of Denver has been paying close attention too. It has recently added a new course specifically focusing on cannabis journalism.
The university currently offers Cannabis Law courses too, so if you’ve ever fancied yourself a career in an ever growing cannabis industry then University of Denver is one of the best places to be right now. The course, Cannabis Journalism: Covering and Reporting on America’s New Normal, will be taught by Andrew Matranga. He points out that:
“It might require some comfort zone-busting for the students,
but that’s what journalism is great for, too.”
The course will be a great experience for those looking to immerse themselves in cannabis culture while improving their journalism skills. Students will get the opportunity to work with industry professionals, visit dispensaries and possibly even sample some free weed. The course description states:”The magnitude of the change in America’s relationship to marijuana can’t be measured in only economic or social terms: There are deeper shifts going on here cultural realignments, social adjustments, and financial adjustments.
If you’re a student of the University of Denver this would be a great time to get yourself on a unique new course which could lead to some exciting opportunities.
