Over the past few weeks a petition created by James Richard Owen has been gathering a lot of support and has almost reached 200,000 signatures.
The petition calls for the full legalisation of cannabis in the UK with it’s headline “Make the production, sale and use of cannabis legal.”
David Cameron and the now fully conservative government have finally been forced into opening up a debate about the topic. In the past the Prime Minister has spoken of his views of legalisation saying that he didn’t think there was a need for it. Well it seems a couple of hundred thousand people clearly feel that his views on the subject are wrong and that reform is needed.
Parliament are set to discuss the topic within the coming weeks according to the petition. With the Irish government also discussing the option of decriminalisation of weed the people of the British Isles may not have to wait as long as they thought before they are able to pop down the street to a dispensary for their weed or grow it themselves at home.
If you live in the UK and want to give the petition a sign and help it reach 200,000 you can sign here.
