Our list of the top weed strains for 2016
2016 has been an exciting year for cannabis culture as well as the cannabis industry as a whole. More and more states in the US are pushing towards full legalisation and there are even some countries outwith the US that may even decriminalise marijuana in the near future. More and more strains are coming along to challenge the classics which are constantly improving and getting better with each year. Here’s our list of our top weed strains?of this year, in no particular order.
Everyone who knows weed, knows Jack. If not?you should read up on him and the amazing strain that is named after him. The strain Jack Herer has been around for years but its continuously gotten better and never seems to leave the top spots on our lists. The strain is a hyrbid mix, but is best known for it’s cerebral/euphoric sativa effects. It’s also known for its ability to help treat depression and boost creativity. We’ve sampled this strain many times – in both flower and wax form – and it’s never failed to please us, definitely making it one of the top weed strains out there. If you’re looking for a tasty, cerebral hit, definitely check out the famous Jack Herer.
Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mints
Girl Scout Cookies is a god like strain in it’s own right, but the Thin Mints version gives that extra little hit of flavour which makes it a strain you want to keep coming back too. The strain packs a unique taste and smell which is due to the combination of the legendary sativa Durban Poision and the hybrid OG Kush. We also had the chance to sample a very special batch of Girl Scout Cookies?which measured at 28% THC.
Grand Daddy Purple
One of they most well know indica?strains out there. Grand Daddy Purple is a gorgeous looking strain, sometime with vibrant purple highlights. The nugs are usually quite large which most likely gave way to the name Grand Daddy Purple. The strain is a mix of Purple Urkle and Big Bud. Good for those looking for pain relief and insomnia, Grand Daddy Purple is definitely one our out top indicas and top weed strains of all time. It will most likely be up there for some time also.
This was a somewhat rare strain for us to exepreice. It took a while for us took find out any origins of the strain which seemed credible but we eventually discovered that it’s apparently grown from a combination of Triangle Kush and Rare Dankness #1. Scott’s OG?is a great choice for those looking for a combination of both indica and sativa effects. This strain is great for afternoon use, with the sedating indica effects coming through after a nice cerebral buzz.
Gorilla Glue #4
This crystal laden beast caught?our eyes right away with it’s glimmering white coat of THC – it’s also one of the most powerful strains we’ve reviewed here on the site. Gorilla Glue #4?is a frequent award winner with its most notable achievement being gained after it won the 2014 Cannabis Cup. The strain features a gourmet mix of strains – Chemsis, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel, all of which have just as complex a lineage. The nugs are absolutely covered in crystals which add to the potency and taste of the strain. If you’re looking for something to really knock your socks off, Gorilla Glue #4 is the strain for you.
Super Silver Haze
I usually prefer the look of indica nugs but when I seen the beautiful nugs that had been produced from this batch of Super Silver Haze I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the grow. It was dense, yet had that lovely foamy feel. Super Silver Haze is a potent sativa which hits you instantly in the head as soon as you take the first hit. It’s great for those looking to help with depression or boost creativity and is a mix of Northern Lights, Haze and Skunk.
True OG is the embodiment of what an indica should be, in both taste, looks and effects. The strain induces almost immediate couchlock and is perfect for days when you’ve got absolutely?nothing to do.?According to?en.seedfinder?the story of True OG began in a place called Topanga Canyon where the?San Jose collective Elemental Wellness bought 10 cuts of True OG for $50 each in 2004. Six years later they had won?2nd place in the indica category for their True OG strain. The years of growing perfection have made this strain an OG to be reckoned with and one of the top weed strains of all time.
