According to Coca-Cola chief executive James Quincey there will be no plans for the company to enter into the cannabis sector. The response comes after a question asked by an analyst following rumours that the drinks company was monitoring the growth and popularity of CBD based products. Other companies have recently seen huge investment – most notably Corona beer maker Constellation Brands Inc. which has invested $4.0 billion in Canadian weed company Canopy Growth Corp.

“We don’t have any plans at this stage to get into the space. So that’s kind of where we are,” Quincey said, according to a FactSet transcript of the call.

I still wouldn’t rule out a Coca-Cola/Cannabis infused merger in the future are the popularity and proven benefits of CBD become more widespread within the public eye.
